Do you need the vaccine to travel to the United States?

Travelers must have had their second dosage (or one dose for a single-dose vaccine) 14 days before arrival to be considered completely immunized. Boosters were no longer required as of February 11 to be deemed completely immunized. The vaccine must either be licensed by the US Food and Drug Administration or have a World Health Organization emergency use listing (such as AstraZeneca). Vaccinations with several doses will also be accepted.

Before boarding a flight to the United States from another nation, all passengers 2 and older must demonstrate a negative result from a Covid-19 viral test done no more than one day before to travel or produce proof of having recovered from Covid-19 in the previous 90 days. There are no exceptions to the testing requirement for US citizens or those who have been properly immunized.

US citizens, lawful permanent residents, and nationals are exempt from the immunization requirement. In enclosed areas of public transportation, such as airplanes, buses, trains, and other kinds of public transportation, wearing a mask over your nose and mouth is essential.

What can visitors look forward to?

In general, the United States is available to tourist destinations such as national and state parks, ski resorts in the winter, museums, restaurants, entertainment venues, theme parks, and other attractions. During Covid outbreaks, however, individual events and venues may close temporarily.

Hawaii, as well as the US territory of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, have some of the most stringent travel restrictions within the US. Vaccine or testing mandates for indoor entertainment venues are currently in place in some major US tourist cities, including New York, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Washington, among others.

Who is eligible to go?

Covid-related travel bans against certain nations are no longer in effect in the United States. A travel ban imposed on eight countries in southern Africa after the Omicron version of the coronavirus was discovered was recently rescinded.

To enter, non-US citizens, US nationals, lawful permanent residents, and green card holders must be properly immunized. Children under the age of 17 are not required to pay.
