Now coming back to the earth. Cookies are loaded with sugar and fats. The sugar rush makes you crave more. You cannot just stop until they are all gone. We all should look at what we are putting in our mouths and on our hips.

All the goodness of oatmeal chocolate his cookies

This recipe has all the nutritious ingredients. The oatmeal is rich in minerals like potassium, magnesium, and iron. They are also super-rich in fibers. That means you don’t have to worry about weight gain if you happen to overeat these cookies. (It usually occurs because you cannot stop yourself after one.)

I use oatmeal flour instead of regular flour. Just grind the oatmeal in the food processor until crumby or powdered.

Use butter instead of margarine, since butter is natural and rich in vitamin D and A, and free from unsaturated fatty acids and nasty GMO or chemicals.

If you are conscious of your calorie intake, decrease sugar quantity or use honey or maple syrup instead.

A brief note before the recipe

This recipe was initially published by Quakers oats. I am copying this recipe with a few healthier changes. For a perfect cookie, please keep the following things in mind.

  • Butter should be at room temperature.
  • Cream butter and sugar before adding all the dry ingredients.
  • If your dough is soft and runny, keep it in the refrigerator to harden a little.
  • If your dough is hard add 1-2 tablespoons of milk.
  • Don’t over mix or use a mixer. The gluten of flour will activate and the cookies will harden.
  • Don’t over bake.
  • I like crisp crunchy cookies, so I bake for 12 minutes. If you prefer chewy cookies, bake only for about 8 -10 minutes.

Variation

  • You can add peanut butter, raisins, almonds, walnuts, dried cranberries, or anything you want.
  • You can substitute butter with coconut oil.
  • Use honey or maple syrup instead of sugar or any sweet fruit pulp like dates, apple sauce, or bananas.

Ingredients

1 ½ cup butter (at room temperature)

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 ½ cup oatmeal flour

3 cups oatmeal

1 cup chocolate chips

Method

  • Mix butter and brown sugar until creamy and fluffy.
  • Add in vanilla and egg.
  • Mix flour, salt, and baking soda.
  • Finally, add in oatmeal and chocolate chips.
  • Spoon out the cookie dough on a parchment paper-lined baking tray.
  • Bake at 375 F for 8 – 12 minutes or until slightly brown at the edges.
  • Cool on the tray.
  • Store in an air-tight jar.

You don’t have to hide these oatmeal chocolate chip cookies from children, or adults. Let them enjoy healthily eating comfort food.
